By the time you read this on Thursday, I should have a shiny new pacemaker. My replacement surgery is at the crack of dawn Thursday morning and I only have to stay for a couple hours of observation and get to go home! No spending the night! Yay! Sorry I didn't get to post last week, but between furniture shopping
with my mom, stamping, and an unexpected cardiology appointment last Friday, I was
exhausted!
Remember how last December I was having pacemaker issues and they couldn't figure out why? Well, turns out the battery was going, but it never alerted the way it should. Last week, my monthly checkup I do over the phone didn't go well so I had to go in to the office. Once I was hooked up to the monitor, my cardiologist was puzzled and asked me if I had had an electrical shock, or had leaned over an old car engine while it was running (oh yeah, that's it), or had been through a metal detector. Nope. Had an MRI? Nope. Abducted by aliens? Uh, no! LOL! For some reason, the pacer had re-set itself and the dr. couldn't access it through the computer without calling the maufacturer for an access code. It was the strangest thing. So it turns out I have about a month left on the battery and need a new pacemaker. I'm kind of glad because the new ones have a smaller profile and technology has advanced so much in 7 years that the dr. will be able to fine tune it to my needs.
Anyway, to make up for not posting last week, here are three cards. The story is, I didn't like the way the first card turned out so I stayed up late to make the other two, and by that time I was too exhausted to post! I should have just checked my ego and posted what I had, but that's the life of a perfectionist. I've had this stamp set by Hero Arts for years and never used it and it's perfect for the "clean and simple" style that I admire, but find hard to do. I used a sketch from Splitcoaststamper's CAS forum # CAS13.
The first card was the first one I did and it looked strange without a ribbon and believe it or not, I didn't have one that coordinated so I went with the organdy. I'm not sure it works. Well, maybe it works, but it's not exactly perfect. I actually like it better than I thought, now that I see it on my computer monitor. Measures 6 3/8 x 4 1/2 inches
The second card works a lot better as a CAS in my opinion. And I love the stitching, although you can't see it as well here. Measures 6 3/8 x 4 1/2 inches
I love the third card. The base cardstock has a gorgeous texture and I
think the gold string coordinates well. As usual, it looks better IRL. Measures 6 x 4.25 inches.
I wanted a photo of all three together, but it didn't work out. I got
a book out of the library on taking pictures of crafts and collectibles
which I hope will help me with getting more out of my camera. It's on
hold right now, so I'll let you know if it was any good. Sometime in
the near future, I'll also do a little review on the Singer "Pixie"
sewing machine.
